Orchestra 21 is a Melbourne-based, independent chamber orchestra founded in 2010 by a group of friends—passionate amateur musicians—who wanted more opportunities to come together and share the joy of playing and performing chamber music. What began as a grassroots initiative has grown into a vibrant musical community, bringing together emerging and established artists from across Victoria.

United by a love of chamber music and a commitment to artistic excellence, Orchestra 21 creates meaningful opportunities for musicians to develop their craft and connect with audiences through inspiring live performances.

Our mission is to enrich the cultural life of Melbourne by:

• Fostering Emerging Talent We support the next generation of artists by offering solo performance and leadership opportunities for both emerging and established musicians.

• Championing Accessibility By keeping ticket prices affordable, we ensure that high-quality concerts are accessible to a broad and diverse audience.

• Nurturing Excellence Collaborations with eminent guest artists help our players refine their orchestral skills and deliver performances of the highest calibre.

• Building Community From local venues to regional stages, we’re proud to contribute to the rich musical life of communities across Victoria.

Whether you're a listener, performer, or supporter, we invite you to be part of Orchestra 21’s journey—where music is shared, friendships are forged, and artistry continues to grow.
